About the position
1- Fire Captain
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- a) Ability to motivate staff and lead a team.
- b) Proficiency in MS Office Suite, and Firehouse Software.
- c) Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences.
- d) Ability to work on own initiative.
Essential Experience:
- a) A minimum of 5 years' experience of working in the fire service as a paid municipal fire officer (Crew chief or higher)
- b) Experience in drafting and implementing staff training programs.
- a) (Captains) shall hold international certification at the following minimums.
- NFPA 1001, NFPA 1002, NFPA 1005, NFPA 1021 (Officer II).
- NFPA 1041 (Instructor II).
- NFPA 472 (Technician level) and (Hazmat Incident Command).
- NFPA 1002 (Driver/Operator Engine, Ladder,).
- b) Captains shall have five years verifiable experience as a paid, full time, Officer with a Municipal Fire Department.
- c) Shall be trained to a minimum of basic first aid and CPR with automatic external defibrillator.
- d) Shall hold Technician level certifications in Technical Rescues including:
- Trench Rescue.
- Confined Space Rescue; and
- High Angle Rescue.
- e) High School Graduate or Above.
- f) 21 years to 55 years of age.
- g) Fitness test, occupational health screening (normal color vision and manual dexterity are important) plus medical assessment including eye tests (spectacles are acceptable).
- h) Mental and physical capacity to perform duties, including annual medical evaluations to ensure fitness for duties, specifically according to NFPA Standards 1582 & 1583.
- i) Fluent in English speaking and writing (KFPD reserves the right to evaluate the English level of all designated CONTRACTOR personnel).

Range of Salary: It will be determined by the candidate's evaluation.
